The Steelhead are still here
The fishing is great right now and should continue until mid May
I still have very good dates available.
The fishing on the Delaware river is very good and the Hendrickson hatch has started contact me to book dates on the Northeast's premier dry fly fishery
The Lake Fishing has Started Book your Lake Charter here
The ice is out and the Brown Trout fishing is heating up. Call me to book your lake charter for what is bound to be a great Brown Trout season.
5-6-08 - Reports from the Delaware are that the Hendrickson's and Caddis both hatching well. We should have at least another 2 solid weeks for the Hendrickson hatch and of course the different types of Caddis will be coming off all summer.
5-6-08 - It was a very nice day to be on the water so I went and did a little fishing for myself today. I floated the upper river and saw good numbers of fish and got a few to bite. I landed a few but as I was alone I got no pictures. Still a very good a day with good numbers of fish. For some reason people seem to think it is over up here at the end of April. This is not so. I am guessing that we will have decent fishing for about another 2 weeks.
4-29, 30-08 - Jeff Water drove up from Virginia to spend a couple of days on the water with me. It was a great couple of days which produced some of the best fishing Jeff has ever seen. Here are some of the pictures of the many fish Jeff landed.
4-26-08 - Dave Turner and his daughter Alyssa joined me on the water today. It was a tougher day today as we floated the top half of the river. I ran into Dave and Ally yesterday afternoon while I was out with Mike and Mike was kind enough to invited them to share our spot. This picture of Ally was taken then when she landed this beautiful hen. Dave's fish was taken downstream during our float.

4-25-08 - Mike Bodak came up to do a little spring fishing with me. The fish gods really smiled on Mike today as he hooked and landed fish after fish. This was traditional fly fishing at its best as we swung big flies all day. Here are just a couple of fish from this great day.
4-24-08 - Martin, Cal, and Ray joined me today for what was to be a great day on the river. They requested catching fish on the swinging fly so I suggested this time frame when they booked and it couldn't have worked out better. Here are a few pictures of the boys with some of the many fish that they caught today.
4-21-08 - Bill and his daughter Chris joined me today and what a spectacular day it was. The weather was unbeatable and the fishing was just as good. We hooked a good number of fish but the high water and heavy current prevented us from getting many of them to the net. Here's a couple that did make it though.
4-17-08 - It was another great day with Jack and Don. We rounded out what was to be the fishing trip of there lives with a spectacular day today. I am only going to put up a couple of more pictures of us.
4-16-08 - I had the Bouffard brothers Jack and Don out today and what a day it was. Although these two had never fished here before that did very very well. We had a terrific time with both the fishing and the camaraderie. Here are just a few pictures of the many fish fought and landed today.
4-9-08 - Scott and his brother Shaun where out from VT to do some fishing and spent the morning with me today. Although we had a decent number of chances only this one fish was landed. Here is Scott with a nice male.
4-6-08 - The fish gods didn't just smile today but they actually grinned as they looked down upon Ken Link and his son Ryan. It was an unbelievable day with some amazing battles both won and lost. Ryan said to me that he only wished his older brother Alex could have been there to share this day with them. Sorry you missed it Alex but college is much more important. Here are just a few of the pictures of the fish landed today. We might have had a few more pictures of Ken if he hadn't drop so many fish while we where taking the pictures. It was a great day and we had a great time.
4-1-08 - Jim and John where out with me again today for another great day on the water. We worked very hard for our fish today but had a good number of hookups and managed to land some nice fish.
3-31-08 - Jim and John came up to try there hand at some Spring Steelhead. We had a decent day and a great time. We have fished side by side for so long they are old friends and it was a great day of camaraderie and fishing.
3-28-08 - It started out as a good day for Mike and his son Pete but then it got very slow. I was dying to get them into some fish but everywhere we stopped it was a big zilch. Then at the end of day we salvaged everything when we got quite a few hook-ups and landed several fish. Here are a few of the pictures from today. Congrats to Mike and his son Pete.
3-26-08 - It was another good day on the water for Kevin and the boy's. Today we mixed it up a little and I took Kevin and Tank down for a float on the river and some fun fishing. Kevin got this nice hen of about 12 lbs.
3-25-08 - Kevin and Tim joined me today for what started as a brrrr cold day and wound up being a nice 40 degrees with plenty of sun. It was a decent day and we managed to land a couple of fish. They will be out with me tomorrow and we are hoping for a little better bite but they are dropping the water again tonight to 400 cfs and this won't help the cause. I feel that it always takes the fish a little time to settle in after the water changes.
3-20-08 - I fished for a couple of hours with my friend Bill in the LFZ. Bill managed to land a couple while I was there. It was a very decent day despite the wind. You can see the fresh hen (on left) the eggs are high and not distended and the ready to spawn hen (on right) eggs have dropped and she is distended. Both nice fish.
3-16-08 - Fred drove up from Maryland to join me today and we had a very good day. Fred hooked and fought many fish but we where only able to bring this one to the net.
3-14-08 - Gary and his friends Brian and Mike joined me today for what was a great time on the river. It wasn't so much the numbers of fish hooked or landed as it was the camaraderie that we enjoyed during the day. It was my privilege to have this great group of guy's in my boat today. Here are a few pictures from the day.
3-10-08 - Howard and his son Grey joined me to day for a day of fishing and instruction in the use of the Spey rod. It was a decent bite today and we had several opportunities but only managed to get this one fish to the net.
3-8-08 - Kevin and Drew where my guests today and it was another tough day as the majority of the fish seem to be in the pre-spawn mode and not biting well. We had several chances but only Kevin was able to land this one fish.
3-4-08 - Ken Link and his son Alex came up for the day today. It was a tough day and Alex fared only slightly better than his dad but we had a great time and still managed to get a few fish. Here are some pictures from today.
3-2-08 - Joe Mik floated with me for a few hours this morning and landed this nice chrome hen.
2-29-08, 3-1-08 Ron and Mike joined me for a couple of days of winter steelheading and upstate NY showed them what winter was on Friday. We met in the AM and it was 2 below. The good news was that we had no wind so it was not too bad. We had a low pressure system that bottomed out and the bite was poor but we managed a few fish anyway. Saturday started out a solid 30 degrees warmer which was promising but before we got through the day we had strong winds and some pretty good snow coming down. Again we managed to make a decent day of it and Mike and Ron where very pleased with the outcome of there trip. Here are some pictures from the last 2 days.
2-25-08 - Todd Hindinger was my guest today and we had a good day right from the start. Here are some of the fish that Todd landed.
2-24-08 - Tom and Dick where my guests for a second day and although it was a little tuffer we did manage some nice fish.
02-23-08 - It was a bit of a slow bite day but we managed to do OK. Here are a few pictures of Tom Terrien and his dad Dick.
02-19-08 - Ken Link joined me today and although we had to work hard for the fish it was a good day.
02-15-08 - I decided to check out the river this AM and walked down to give it a try. I landed these 2 nice hens in about an hour. The fishing is excellent and the water is now at 750cfs thru Saturday. Both fish where released in good health.
02-09-08 - It was a very good day today with lot's of fish being hooked and given the high water a decent number landed. However the camera was down today so I have no pictures.
02-05-08 - It was a great day on the water today with two of my favorite guests Anthony and Ken. We hit fish everywhere we stopped today. Here are just a couple of the pictures from this tremendous day. We only got to banner a couple of fish with the Salmon Crazy banner as the rain utterly destroyed it.
02-2-08 - It was a decent day both for the weather and for the fish. I took Mike, Pete, and AL out for their first Steelhead trip and we fared pretty well. The last fish of the day, landed by Mike, was a real bruiser measuring 33x19. What first day!
01-30-08 - Batten down the hatches!!!! The temp dropped and the wind blew, gusts above 40 mph. Very early this AM most of this area experienced rain, some heavy. Then around 6 AM the cold front came and froze it solid creating black ice and nasty driving conditions. But a friend did go out on the river and reported a very good day despite the wind. There are silver fish in the upper part of the river according to this report. I did not venture out in the biting wind chill but hope to get on the water for a while tomorrow. Forecasted water flow is currently for 750 cfs until midnight Saturday (Water Flow).
01-29-08 - My good friend Ken Forrestall was up and we went out to test the waters for a couple of hours today. Started out hot bite the bite went off and we worked for the fish we got the rest of the day. Here is Ken with a nice fish that he caught this morning.
01-28-08 - I took Paul, Ryan, and Bob out today and although it was not a great bite day it was still pretty good fishing. Here are some of the pictures of the fish that where landed.
01-26-08 - It was another good day on the water. George O. and I guided 3 brothers today Mick, Harry, and Paul. It was not a great bite day with the barometer bottomed out but we did pretty well. Here are some pictures of the guy's and their fish.
01-24-08 - George O and I went out to play for a couple of hours today. We had a great time getting into quite a few fish. With the warm weather coming next week we should be in for a good bite. Here are 2 of the fish that I landed today fish egg sacks under floats.
01-22-08 - Saul Kessler was my guest on the river today. It was a little bit slower bite today but Saul managed to land these 2 and we fought some and missed some other bites. Still all in all not a bad day on the river.
01-21-08 - Well the last two days have seen us get about 6 feet of snow so I have not been on the river. My car was all clean less than 24 hours before this picture was taken. I will be on the river tomorrow and will update my report tomorrow night.
01-19-08 - Bob Adamski of Whitakers called me last night and asked if I was open. When I told him my trip had just canceled and I was open he asked me to call Mike and Keith. So Mike and Keith joined me for a day on the water today. It was a very pleasant day weather wise until about 1:30 when the wind started to kick in. We had a great time. Even though the river was a little crowded we fought a bunch of fish and landed a few as well. Here are a couple of pictures.
01-18-08 - Dave, Fred, and Tom joined me for a day on the water today. It was a slow start and a moderate bite today but we did very well. Here are a few of the pictures from the day.
01-16-08 - George O and I decided to head out and fish for ourselves today. So we hit the river about 10 AM after it warmed up a few degrees. The bite was on as I was into a fish on my first cast. And so the day went 3rd cast 7th cast etc. having an excellent time with lots of willing participants. Of course I had a very powerful fly in Big Blue that accounted for a great deal of the fish that I hooked. My regular guests know what I mean. Here are a couple of pictures.
01-12-08 - My good friend and fellow guide Ed M and I went down to see how the fishing was in this big water, 2000cfs. We hooked and landed several fish in short order. The fishing is just great even with the big water. Here is one of the fish that I landed.
01-10-08 - I went down to check out the water and fishing conditions and they are both just great. Although the water is high, 1800cfs, it is still very fishable. Here is a picture of one of the three fish that I hooked and landed in less than an hour today.
01-09-08 - I had to cancel today's outing due to the high wind gusts forecast of 65 to 70 MPH. I will be on the river tomorrow.
01-07-08 - Fran called me and asked if I would be willing to help him learn how to navigate the river and pull plugs in his new drift boat. We spent the afternoon fishing and teaching Fran the in and outs of navigating the river. It was a pretty decent day for the short amount of time that we spent fishing. Here are a couple of pic's.
01-05-08 - I fished with Lou Rehl and his son Adam today. This was a Christmas present from his other son Lou. It was a little bit of a slow bite but we still managed to tangle with about 8 or 9 fish. We only got this one to the net.
01-04-08 - I had the pleasure of fishing with Joe and his son Joe Jr. today. Joe used to live and guide in the area but left some 14 years ago and decided that it was time to introduce young Joe to Steelhead fishing. We had a great trip.
01-03-08 - Brrrrrrrrrrr!! Boy was it cold this morning at about 4 below. So I waited until it warmed up to about 9 degrees and then took the 20 minute walk from my house to the School House pool and fished for about a half hour. I managed to hook and land this very nice chrome fish and then decided that that was enough for me for the day so home I went. There will be a very nice warming trend over the weekend and into the middle of next week which should turn both the fish and the fisherman on and there are lot's of fish in the river. I have some good open dates as well so give me a call and let's go fishing.
