May - Many thanks to Doug and Jason for providing us a terrific opportunity to enjoy some traditional dry fly fishing by stocking several thousand Brown and Rainbow trout in the Douglaston Salmon Run. Eric and his son Jake took advantage of this with me. We also tossed a few spinner flies with spinning rods. It was a great experience.

April - The Spring Steelhead fishing was very good despite the low water conditions. We spent most of our time fishing the DSR. It was the place to be to get away from the crowds and enjoy some great Spring fishing. Here are just some of the pictures from our Spring outings.

Easter Sunday.

03-02-10 - Ken and Alex Link came up for a day of Spey casting. We had a terrific day on the water. Alex is becoming very adept at this style of fishing as is his dad. Here are a couple of pictures.

02-27-10 - My good friend Bill joined Mark Sabia and I for a couple of hours on the water this afternoon He landed this very nice domestic Rainbow in full spawning colours.

02-25-10 - Jon and Jim joined me for a day on the water and we had a great time. We had a good deal of snow throughout the day but the temps where mild. Here are a couple of pictures from the day.

02-20-10 - John and Chris came up to join me for a day on the water. We had a great day together and they learned allot. Here are a couple of pic's from the day.

02-18,19-10 - Mike and Ron came up to join me again this year for what started as a slow bite but ended up as a great trip. Thursday was a very tough bite and we only landed a few fish. Friday was a completely different scenario. Even with the high winds we wound up crushing them. All fish where released to fight another day. Here are some pictures from the past two days.

02-15-10 - Andy needed a day on the water so off we went to see what the fish gods would have in store for us. It was a tough bite day but we managed a few nice fish including the gorgeous brown shown below.

02-13-10 - Mike and Al came up to fish and asked me to guide them getting Al into his first Salmon River Steelie. We had a great day and got into some nice fish. Here are a couple of pictures including Al with his first Steelhead and Brown from this great fishery. Mission accomplished.

02-04-10 - Ken Link came up to fish with me and we had a great day on the water. A little bit of a chilly start but no wind and a Bluebird day with blue skies and plenty of sun. Here are a couple of pictures from this terrific day on the water.

01-23-10 - Kevin and Gene came and did a little fishing. This was their first trip here and the first time that they ever cast Spey rods. They had a very good day and picked up allot of new information that they will put to good use when on the water. Here are a couple of pictures of some of the fish they caught.

01-21-10 - I stepped out my back door and fished the LFZ for about an hour this afternoon. We got into 5 Steelhead in the hour that we fished. The reports that I am receiving from the upper river have been good even with the low water flow we are still continuing to catch fish in decent numbers.

01-05-10 - Happy New Year. An old friend from Nantucket, Nate Amendola, and I went out with the Spey rods for a few hours this afternoon. We did very well even with the low water scenario landing 3 out of 7. All fish where released in the water so I have no photo's.

12-15-09 - Andy, Mike, and Dave joined me today. It was a great start with the water flowing the forecasted 750 cfs. Then for some reason at 8 AM they cut the flow back to 335cfs. This really screwed the day up. We did the best we could but the fish where not biting well as they where getting accustomed to their new environment We still had a good day and great time on the water. Here are some of the pic's from the day.

12-14-09 - I had a great day on the water today. To bad Ken could not make it up. I got into fish everywhere I stopped and the weather was mild. No gloves required. Here are a couple of the fish I landed today.

12-12-09 - I got out today for a couple of hours. I managed to get into a few fish and had a great time. The fishing is good and the water level is much better at 750cfs. Here is a nice male I got on one of my nymph patterns.

12-08-09 - It was an absolutely gorgeous day with plenty of sun and mild temps. I connected with fish everywhere I stopped. The fishing is great right now and the crowds have really diminished since Thanksgiving week. Here is a nice photo from the day.

12-05-09 - Tom Proietti and his son Andy came up to try their hand at some Steelhead. We had a great time and the fish god's where very generous. Tom and Andy got into a good number of fish and landed quite a few as well. Here are a few of the pictures from this wonderful day on the water.

11-25-09 - Patrick and his 7 year old son Josh joined me this afternoon for a couple of hours. We had a great time and Josh landed his very first Steelhead. Congrat's Josh. You are the best.
